Care in the autumn years

Celebrating 25 years of Peter

We’d like to take some time to say a huge thank you to Peter, one of our hardworking, wonderful volunteers!

Peter started volunteering with us 25 years ago, back when we were called the Glasgow Old People’s Welfare Association. He was soon offered a position as a part time driver at the Mattie Carwood Day Centre and continued with this role for the next 15 years, retiring in October 2018.

Peter then decided to volunteer as a befriender and he is also a fantastic attribute to our service provision in the Mattie Carwood and David Cargill Centre.

Peter is one of our stalwart volunteers who has always been an added asset not only during Covid but for many years. Peter always goes above and beyond for Glasgow’s Golden Generation. He even offered his assistance to deliver food parcels during Covid when the most vulnerable people of Glasgow were isolating for so long, and for that we are eternally grateful.

When Peter is not volunteering, he is socialising, watching football and playing golf and of course enjoys going on an odd holiday abroad..

Peter – thank you for all that you do and continue to do for this organisation!
